I know a ‘car’ doesn’t exactly classify as a ‘cute outfit’ or a ‘new lipstick you must try’, but I am so excited to channel the lifestyle side of love ‘n’ labels today & share about a really exciting collaboration I’ve been working on! And if you are by chance on the car hunt, I highly encourage you to keep reading!
Most of you may agree that it is a dream come true when a well-known car company offers you a top-of-the-line vehicle for the week & invites you to experience a full college game day with them … 🙂 How could I resist? This is exactly what happened when I received an email a few weeks ago from a contact at Hyundai – a large, household name that most of us have probably heard much about throughout our lifetime. I was thrilled that they reached out to me & couldn’t wait to experience one of their vehicles for myself. Fun fact: I had actually never driven a Hyundai before this past week (which made me even more excited to drive one). I have always had such a high respect for the company and everything that they stand for — most importantly, their emphasis on safety & then of course, always thinking of how to make the Hyundai experience even better for their consumers.
It’s that time of year here in Tennessee where we just really don’t know what season to dress for — if you live in the South, you can probably relate. In the mornings and at night, it may be chilly but then once 2:00 in the afternoon rolls around, you’re sweating when you step outside. This can be especially challenging for gameday because most fans tailgate early in the day when it’s cool outside, and then once it’s time for kickoff, the sun is shining and it’s 80-something degrees. Actually, this past Saturday, the UT vs. USC game was like this!
That got me thinking that I should gather some transitional looks together and style them a bunch of different ways so that I could give you guys some ideas of what to wear to those football games in the South, when you know the weather will be changing throughout the whole day.
While doing this, I thought I would take a trip down memory lane and share with you all some of my favorite spots at my old stomping grounds on Tennessee’s campus. After spending 4 years of my life there and growing up going to all of the Vol sporting events, I’ve learned that there are some pretty special traditions and memories that I will cherish forever. The University of Tennessee is ALL about tradition, and us Vols take it pretty seriously! I’m so excited to let you all in and share some of my most memorable moments from when I attended UT!
Today I am starting a series that has been in the works for MONTHS now. It’s been something that I’ve wanted to share with y’all for a really long time because I get so many questions about it and because I remember exactly the way I felt when I took my first step into the blogging world. You’re so hopeful of what will come of it, but at the same time, it’s beyond overwhelming & confusing. Today, we’re starting a journey together where I will be sharing the tips and tricks I’ve received and learned along the way in this blogging world.
For those of you who are new bloggers or influencers, social media gurus, or just want to know the behind the scenes of how this career works, this series is for you. I’ll be sharing SO MUCH of what I’ve learned in my own journey to success, plus some secrets that will make your blogging life a little easier. Over the past year, I’ve paid for courses to help me gain knowledge in this industry and I’ve made some amazing connections with others who have been so generous to share their wealth of knowledge with little ole me (read about a few of them that I mentioned in this post). I’m forever grateful for their support and guidance, and I feel like it’s only right for me to pay it forward to all of you who have been messaging me for help on your own blogs or social media outlets. So, hold on tight because I promise you are in for a treat …
I recently bought this oversized, longline denim jacket from Topshop, and to be completely honest, I’m surprised I’ve gotten to wear it as many times as I have already. It’s just so versatile that you can style it many different ways and really never wear the same look twice. I also styled it with an athleisure outfit in this post.
Ever since middle school, I’ve always loved a classic denim jacket (just ask my teachers and old classmates!), so I’m pretty pumped that they are coming back in style this season. However, I want to showcase a new, more trendy take on this ‘classic’ piece.
Gone are the days when jackets were only worn as an extra layer to keep you warm. In today’s fashion world, more pieces of outerwear are being worn on their own – as dresses. And frankly, I love the idea.
So, y’all know that the fall weather has been really slow getting here to East Tennessee, but the leaves are beginning to change and it’s finally starting to take a turn toward cooler temps (meaning like 70’s — sometimes 60’s if we’re lucky. But I’ll take it!).
I’ve definitely become that ‘basic’ girl that every makes memes about because I’ve been burning my fall candles (nonstop — like most of them are already burned to the bottom!!), sipping on some hot cider, making chili for the hubs, the whole shebang! No PSL from Starbucks for me though so I guess it could be worse 😉 I don’t know why, but I’m just not really into them. I’m more of a boring, regular coffee kinda girl 90% of the time haha!
Anyways, to celebrate my excitement for the season with you all, I wanted to put together this full post where I basically lay out ALLLL of the things that I’m currently craving – or wearing – during this time of year + a few products that I’ve been raving about and have gotten a lot of questions about on Instagram lately.
Today is a (very) special day here at love ‘n’ labels because we’re turning 1!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LNL!
I’ll be honest … when I sat down to write this blog post, I had no clue where to start. There’s so much I want to say and so many people I want to thank for helping me get to where I am today. So, I’m just going to start rambling off all of the thoughts that are jumbled inside my head right now as I reflect on my first year in the blogging world … here we go!
When I published my very first blog post (don’t judge, we’ve come a loooong way ha!) this time last year, I honestly had no idea what I was doing, what all I was getting myself into, and how much work came with running a successful brand and fashion blog. But over the past year, I have learned so much about the blogging industry, about myself, about other people, about having an audience and about the fashion world as a whole. To celebrate and further reflect on my first year of blogging, I want to share a few things that I have learned that continue to stick out to me time and time again:
I typically don’t post here on the blog on Mondays but tonight, I felt led to share not only this really cute transitional outfit for fall, but also a few things I’ve had on my mind today.
First off, I wanted to share this cute #ootd that I wore not too long ago because it’s (finally) starting to feel like fall here in Tennessee … well, as much as it can for this time of year. If you’re from this area or anywhere in the south, you may know what I mean. It usually stays pretty warm around here until November or December (although last year on Christmas, it was still in the 70’s…), but this month, the temps have already started dropping a little bit. And you won’t hear me complaining! I’m ready to start breaking out the beanies & blanket scarves, but I still think I’ll have to wait awhile for that.
Anyways, if you’re like me and still stuck in a semi-warm climate for a few more months, you’ll fall in love with easy outfits like this one that will help you transition into fall. Like, the REAL fall (meaning temps into the 50s & 60s). 😉
I try my best to stick to a consistent schedule here on LNL (minus when I am traveling at times) but I guess that’s one of the beauties of being your own boss … when you feel inspired, you start writing. No matter the time, the place or the day. So here I sit taking a bubble bath, winding down for the day. Total silence. Just me & my thoughts. I actually love it – most of the time. But today, only thoughts of sorrow & pain fill my mind for the tragedy that happened here in the States last night. Does anyone else feel like it’s been very difficult to go about your normal day or is it just me??
I’ve been speechless since I woke up this morning and heard about the news. One of my blogger besties texted me first thing (she didn’t know if I had made it back from my trip to Vegas last week) asking, “ARE YOU OKAY?” “Are you hurt???” “I just heard about the LV shooting…”
The temps are finally starting to drop here in East Tennessee this weekend, and I couldn’t be happier! I’m ready for fall, y’all 😉
It’s the perfect time to start stocking up on your fall and winter wardrobe pieces, and I must say that if I had to choose one thing to carry me into these seasons, it would be cozy, oversized sweaters. Cable knit is my personal fave, so I totally fell in love with this black one from My Kind Of Lovely last week when I stopped by their new store here in Knoxville.
It’s a tiny bit cropped on me (which I like!), but if you are shorter than me, it would probably hit right about at your waistline. I love how chunky it is with the high turtleneck — where are all my long neck girls at? Haha! I always joke that I have a giraffe neck, so I’m a sucker for a turtleneck!
Is it just me or did it feel like this week lasted forever?? So happy that it’s finally Friday! Speaking of the weekend, I wanted to share this new pullover that I got from My Kind of Lovely here in Knoxville because it is seriously so comfy and cozy for the upcoming fall and winter temps. On the weekends, this is totally my go-to style: easy & comfortable. It’s perfect for those Saturday morning coffee runs or days when you just stay in and cuddle up on the couch – aka days when you binge watch Netflix 😉
As a fashion-loving girl growing up, I always DREAMED of going to New York Fashion Week. Of course, you can say ‘awww, she finally made it!’ all you want, but the honest truth is that no one in the industry really cares if that’s been your lifelong dream — especially the people behind the brands of these immaculate fashion shows. Okay, so maybe there’s a couple who actually ‘care’, but the truth is … no one in this industry has the time to care about other people’s dreams. Everyone is busy with making their own dreams come true. And that was something I learned over the course of my first NYFW experience. But I totally get it!
I, of course, would never babble on to a brand about this kind of stuff, but since y’all seem to be more interested in my life and my own ‘dreams’, I want to let y’all in on a little secret! So, when I first started blogging back in October of 2016 (almost a year ago), I told my family that if I ever made it to fashion week as a blogger / influencer, I will have felt accomplished and satisfied with my job as a blogger … well shoot, I honestly thought that would happen like 10 years from now … not 1 year after I started my blog!! But hey, I can’t complain – AT ALL. And somehow (with God’s blessing & lots of hard work), I finally made a dream come true of attending fashion week in New York — attending presentations, fashion shows, & events. *pinch me* because I honestly still can’t believe it all happened …
